Something for my room

So excited about this project. I wanted to make a mini-album when I started but ended up with an art display for my room. I was browsing through my photos and trying to find groups of pictures I can use for the mini album but when I couldn't find a good theme and the photos are just not in the right size, this came about. I knew I wanted to pait that's one thing, then it led to another and another and here's what I got.

This is an accordion 3"x3" wooden album from Kaisercraft. I also used Kaisercraft pp's for the covers and the designs. I wanted to hang this at the back of the door of my scrapbook room or maybe in one of the corners of my room - still thinking about it...

Close up of the chipboard letters which I also covered with Kaiser pp. Finally had a chance to use those huge alpabet chipboard I've had since forever. I also inked with paint the sides of both the album and the background pp I used.

I'm so happy with the outcome of this. Now my room will feel more scrappy with the addition of this!

Dec Tutorial at ADS

For this month, the tutorial over at Artz de Scrap is all about stuffed christmas trees. My co-DT Kim did a very detailed tutorial on this, do check it out!

Here's my take on it. I used Webster's Pages Home for the Holidays paper on this (i only used the scraps left from my other project). I basically cut the 6 sets of triangles and cut the borders using fiskars edge scissors. I punched holes using my paper piercer for the sewing lines then sew it. I left one side open and then I stuffed crumbled papers inside 'til it is full and then sew it close.

I distressed the sides using Fired brick and then attached one over the other. I then embellished it using xmas eyelets and stickled it!

The bucket here is actually bright orange in color - I dabbed Red Pepper paint dabber over it and then stamped it with hero arts leaf using metallic green stamp ink from versa mark.

Altered Matchbox

This December, Artz de Scrap's challenge is on altering a matchbox with Christmas in mind. We have a used matchbox so I decided to use that instead of creating something from scratch.

I was brainstorming on what I'd do with it that's "Christmasy" I decided why not use it as a gift tag instead of using it as a gift box or something (and trying to look for a gift that would actually fit the box! hehe). It's too small anyway so it could pass as a gift tag.

Here's the finished matchbox. I used scrap paper from my Graphic 45 papers and added stickles to it (center of the flowers).


The leaf is actually a Hero Arts stamp which I cut out after stamping and applied stickles on the end. I stamped Happy Holidays using clear embossing ink and then applied white embossing powder so it would pop above the papers.

And here's the close up of the inside. I painted it with gold acrylic paint and stamped the holly leaf inside. Attached the maroon ribbon on the side for easy pull out and added the message using Jenny Bowlin alpha stickes.

Project featured at INSPIRE ME Gallery

Yipeee!!! So happy today! I found out my Xmas project was featured over at the Inspire me website - this is the ning site of websters pages. I can't believe it because there are so many talented girls over there including my idols like Iris & Karola. And there's a lot of people leaving loooove there. I'm so glad I joined. :)

It's called the 12 days of chrismtas crop where for each day starting Nov 12 - they will feature an artist work and you get to do your take within 72 hours to win an amazing prize! Of course you have to use their 2009 lines for all the projects and what's not to love about their Xmas lines?

I used winter wings and home for the holidays for this project.

There's my project in the middle! :)

Last Sunday, it was Iris turn and her project was a glass art on easel. And I just happen to have an easel that's currently not in use so I decided to give it a try. In addition to the fact that we currently have no xmas decor displayed in the house. :)

Here's my take. The page is made of a 6x6 acrylic page that I have left from an unfinished project :). I inked the edges with copper and pearl alcohol inks (it's that shiny portion on the picture - sorry you can't see it that well here).

Here's the close up of the tree - i punched some xmas themed eyelets and red stickles on the flower center.

Close up of the frame. I used Tarnished brass crackle paint and spread martha stewart glitter on the edges.

Here's the cut out from the winter wings collection. I just love that dangling piece. And the ribbon is just pefect for this. :)

Artz de Scrap Postcard Mini Album

For the month of November our project for Artz de Scrap involves post cards. The idea is to alter an album using post cards.

I have been collecting free ad post cards found from bookstores and the ones from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf since they became available. Unfortunately since I have not finished re-organizing my room yet I asked a favor from a friend who collects them too (some in doubles – thank God!) to gave those doubles to me. Thanks Valerie!

So with post cards in hand, I thought of creating an album out of them instead of using them to alter an album! I’ve recently been inspired by Donna Downey’s workshop videos and techniques on layering with Gesso and Medium so I used that as the main technique here.
Materials I’ve used:
Gesso and medium, some paints, journaling cards, prima tape, old book and lots of stamps!

These were the postcards I’ve used.

I first gesso all the post cards – only covering the areas I want to cover. After the gesso dried, I then layered old book pages on top of it using gel medium and covered the text area again with gesso that makes it look like the old book page is actually part of the background.

Once dried, I layered more journaling cards, pictures, rubons, acetates and stamps. Lastly, I applied distress inks all over the area and bind them together using gaffer tape. And these are the finished pages.

The splash of orange on the background is from the postcard design.

This was a postcard for Visa and it says GO VISA. So I used the word GO and put a travel stamp on top of visa.

This was an ad for whipped cream and the quote just fits! I also removed some of the gesso on top of the quote to show some of the stripes on top of it.

Obviously a bag ad. I kept that bag figure on the right side and the one of the top left reads Bratpack and I replaced Brat with Bag.

This was an ad as a warning for fake passports. I circled the letters from CHINA in the crossword like square. The scroll was from another postcard and I covered the middle area with gesso and wrote my own journaling.

This is the last page which I filed with stamps. After the background has dried, I stamped a prima grid stamp all over it so there’s hints of grids over the area.

Artz de Scrap Inspirational Scrapper

Hello! Happy Monday to all! I have not been able to update my blog this weekend because our internet connection had problems (and i also went to SM Megamall - for their big annual sale) hehe... i'm glad i was able to scratch off some of my christmas shopping list.

Anyway, another beginning of the week - I can't believe there's only 60+ or so days to go before Christmas! Ok, i'm drifting away again from what I wanted to post... :)

I'm so glad to be part of the Artz de Scrap Team and for this month, I am their featured inspirational scrapper. I created a special and fun altered project for my stint. It's a tic tac toe game box!

My husband and I have already played with this and this game box currently rests in our scenter table (sala). Hope you can try this challenge out. Head on over at Artz de Scrap to check out the tutorial on how this game box was constructed.

Altered Metal Tin

For this month, Artz de Scrap's project is to alter a metal tin with halloween theme!
I altered a Hershey's chocolate tin. I painted it with purple and black paint and brushed the side with orange paint too. Then sanded here and there and cut and attached halloween designs.

Scrapbook Express Entries

It looks like I've not been scrapping the past two weeks but I actually am. Just haven't found the time to post all of them and edit the pictures. Here are two layouts, two cards and 1 project I made for the scrapbook express DT Call.

This first card is a folding card which I learned from Cookie in one of RM's workshop. Finally had the opportunity to do it.
This is the altered project I did. It features pictures from our Honeymoon last January.

Here's an LO I did - I totally had fun combining the diffent flower textures and that one strip I slipped under our legs (did that by creating a cut that's the size of the ribbon width).

Artz de Scrap Sept Desk Calendar Take

The tutorial for this month at Artz de Scrap is a Desk Calendar. I created mine a bit differently from the tutorial because I was in the mood to make ATC cards. The idea began when I thought of the unused playing cards I have left. I used that as the ATC base (I know it's not actually an ATC because of the size but I just want to call it ATC anyway).

The calendar stand was made of an ordinary illustration board which I just scored in to the size I want. I then painted the bottom and the sides with pink Kaiser paint then covered the front and back with patterned papers. I only used one line of PS by the way - Rhonna Farrer AL papers. I think I cut up about 10 patterns. I adhered them to the playing cards and then I played with it.

I did a lot of stamping, masking, resist, crackle, distressing and more! I totally had fun although I had a hard time removing all the inks from my hands after. My non-stick craft sheet is proving to be so worth the cost! Just love it.
I made a total of 14 ATCs. 0-3 for the numbers on the left and 1-0 for the numbers on the right.

The left side of the calendar where the months would be written is actually made of acetate. The box on top is a love notes acetate from MLYB. Since these are acetates, you can actually write on it and erase it later on. I did write 2010 January on the second picture and wrote to do's underneath the month. So you can actually customize this calendar and use and re-use it because the months and year can be written and erased how every many times you wish.


All the numbers used were actually done through masking using Tim Holtz Alpha Masks. Just love 'em all!

Artz de Scrap September Challenge

I cannot believe it's the start of the "ber" months! Time flies so fast when you're busy and having fun I guess. And for the September Challenge at Artz de Scrap, we are altering lanterns!

Here's my take and do check out the rest of the DT's beautiful creations!

I stamped on the vellum and embossed it with black ranger embossing powrders, added 3 sets of flowers around the circle and once the candle is lit, you can still kind of see the big beads at the back.

Altered toilet paper tube for Artz de Scrap

For this project I was contemplating on creating something different. I researched online and saw a lot of altered project for this which made it more difficult but when I saw the pearl bracelet on my desk I immediately thought of a jewelry box or holder of some sort which will also be a great gift box. So I went ahead and got started.
I cut about 1/3 of the tube from both ends and wrapped paper on it. I cut the other tube in half and cut about ¼” to they can sit on top of each ot her. I adhered them to a square chipboard which I painted black (that was the hardest part by the way – I used UHU glue and was trying very hard for the glue not to show on the painted surface and to make sure that it holds really well). I also stamped and embossed an image at the bottom of the painted chipboard so even if the box has no content, you’d still see a sort of bling (it’s embossed in silver) at the bottom.

For the design on top, I happen to find this gorgeous flower in my stack and when I added stickles to it, it looked amazing (or so I thought J). Added ribbon at the bottom and voila! (sorry but for some reason the pictures doesn't want to rotate).

I also added bling and ribbon on the outer portion of the box.
