Dixie Pieces Entry for Week #4

Finally finished my page tonight! This is a summer picture of us eating at "Gasthof" in Boracay Island. We loved the baby back ribs there and we couldn't eat enough of it. So glad somebody took a picture of us while eating!

So, the colors for this challenge were too bright and cute! Not a fan of bright colored LO but glad I had a few brightly colored pps.

For this challenge, paint is required so I've incorporated that by painting the bare chipboard frame from Inque Boutique. Mixed lemon and apricot MM paint to get the color i want. I stamped it with Prima border stamp and then spread perfect pearl to give it a shine. Then put blings on the top and bottom scrolls and painted the rest of the scrolls with liquid pearl (not so obvious in the picture here). The brown paper is actually embossed using cuttlebug and then i rubbed yellow chalk over it.
The letters were blank Heidi Swapp chipboards which I colored with perfect pearls too. I've also used TH mask plus color distressed the sides of the page plus the journaling card. I also stamp a small BG swirl on the right corner and a ribbon on the other side.

Journaling: Famous grilled ribs in Boracay Island. We called it "Gastos" because it's pricey but you can never go wrong with ribs and shake!

Okay, now that's done, gotta pack for Scrapfest tomorrow! Fun!

Dixie Pieces Week #4

We’re now on week #3 at Dixie Pieces with their Summer SENSEational challenge. For this week, the challenge is to scrap about textures of summer with doodling on the page using this color scheme:

So here’s my page. I used this picture of our luggages that hon took on our trip to Bangkok last 2007. I used paint dabbers to mat the photos and doodled over it. Oh my doodling is a challenge for me and I think it will remain a challenge. I didn’t like it and am not good at it, now I remember why I bought that doodling book. Sadly I didn’t have enough time to read through it coz of the early trip next morning.

Journaling: Every summer since 2006, we go out of the country for a well-deserved vacation. These Delsey luggages have been our companion since then.

Materials used: Around the block CS, My little yellow bicycle love letter pps, Fancy pants journaling card, AAS ribbons, rub-ons, chipboard eyelets and blings, AC thickers, pebeo, paint dabber, sharpie pen, BG buttons, IB stamp, ranger silver embossing powder, fiskars border punch.

In addition to the layout, I created 3 cards from my scraps to get some more points for the challenge. I’m not a card maker but I sure did enjoy making these.

Dixie Pieces Week #2 Summer Entry

Ok, we're now on week #2 over at Dixie Pieces and this time the theme is about the sights of summer. Color Scheme is lighblue, green and cream. And handcutting must be present. Head on to their forum to see some hand cutting techniques!

Here's my entry. Pardon the lighting in my room but I'm no photograper so this is the best shot I have. I used a green cardstock as the base and added the pps which I punched. I handcut an FP paper and put blings on it and emphasized the stems using brown stickles. It was a bit hard to cut because the scrolls were so thin, but was happy with the result.

Here's a close up of the flower on the bottom left corner. It's actually a fabric flower which I again splattered with stickles. I framed it using the leaves and additional stemmed flowers.

I cut the other snorkling picture of Gio using my spellbinder die and doodled on the embossed border. Also added the Inque Boutique scalloped chipboard which was originally white. Painted it with Kaiser paint, applied Judikins glaze and scattered ranger stickles over it. Underneath is the alpha die cuts which I sticked using foam tape to raise it up. The goggles is an embellishment that was already pre-made.

Had fun experimenting on the different techniques I used. :)

Dixie Pieces' SENSE-ational Summer Challenge

What fun this is! I decided to join because we have tons of unscrapped summer pictures. Of course I wanted to win the amazing prize RAK but if I can scrap 5 summer LO's out of our hundreds of pictures, I'm will be very very glad! :)

Here's my entry for the first week which is defined by the color scheme, orange, green and yellow - oh so summer! It has to be a page about a smell that reminds us of summer so much and there has to be some stitching. Here's my take.


I made this flower by simply punching different circle sizes and then did tearing on the sides, sprayed it with glimmer mist and then applied gesso on the sides and put them all together with a brad. I learned this from a workshop I attended here and it's really cute - it's a look a like of one of the prima flowers that are expensive and not available here.

Journalling:
Nothing smells more summer than the ocean breeze that brushes our nostrils as soon as we hit the beach!
